2011

November 13, 2011

There were a total of 41 members in attendance including 4 officers. Don called the meeting to order at 2:00 PM.

Don yielded the floor to representatives of BP who came to listen to our concerns about the project and to explain how the project and construction would impact the property and our use of it especially during hunting seasons. They also explained their affiliation with citrus energy who is planning to do some exploratory drilling possibly next August. The meeting was constructive and lasted for one hour and 15 min. after which the regular meeting was called to order.

The minutes from the September meeting were read and ratified.

Harry gave the treasurers report.
OLD BUSINESS:
Don stated that he was told that Carl Shook was taking care of some of the problems on stone hollow road using a private contractor. He asked Barry Derolf if any more work was needed to be done. Barry stated that there was still work to be done and Don said he would contact Jeff. Don sad that he made several calls to Jeff Nichols but still has not had any returned.

Don stated that to make it a little easier to get volunteers to help with the hunter safety class that next year the Hunter safety course will be held one week before the opening of archery deer season. He noted that this year Linda Coolbaugh and her husband along with Carl provided the needed help with the pizza etc. He stated that this year's class was fully attended and the game commission was happy with the results.

Harry referred to articles in the Times leader concerning the game commission thinking of allowing dogs to track deer during deer season. He further stated that if anyone was pro or con to this they should contact their legislators noting that the house bill was number 881. Also there is a move in a legislature to lower the licensing fees for fishing and hunting to encourage more participation in the sports. He also referred to in article about an 800 pound female bear aged at 35 years which had to be dispatched because it could no longer walk on its own.

The meeting was then adjourned at 3:44 PM.
